Ron’s Journey to Independence
Life changed in an instant for Ron. Once a vibrant performer who lit up stages as a dancer, Ron’s world was shaken by a tragic car accident that left him disabled and reliant on a caretaker. Just as he was learning to navigate this new reality, another challenge came his way—he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. For a time, Ron believed his days of independence and work were behind him. Layla spent much of her teenage years navigating the challenges of living with juvenile arthritis, which often left her in pain and prevented her from participating in many activities her peers enjoyed. On top of her chronic illness, she carried significant responsibilities at home, helping care for her younger sibling while her single parent worked long hours. At school, she struggled to connect with classmates and often felt misunderstood. The social isolation and the constant need to “keep up” physically and emotionally weighed heavily on her, leading to…

Hearts in Motion: A Day of Healing, Play, and Community
This past weekend, our Hearts in Motion event brought families and community members together for a day filled with joy, connection, and support. Children bounced and laughed in the play area, while others sat wide-eyed during storytime, completely immersed in the moment. Beyond the fun, the heart of the event was about healing and growth. We set up a counseling resource table where participants could explore helpful tools, connect with mental health professionals, and learn about the services available to them year-round. For many, it was an important reminder that healing support is close by and accessible when needed. At Irockmyscars, Inc., we believe that play, creativity, and mental health…

Life doesn’t pause for seasons, but summer gives us the perfect excuse to slow down, notice, and reflect. Imagine waking up to a morning where the sky is painted in soft pinks and golds, your favorite coffee in hand, and a notebook waiting to catch your thoughts. That small ritual can spark ideas, encourage gratitude, and open the door to personal growth. Summer reminds us that adventure isn’t always about grand gestures;…
