Resilience Resource Center (RRC)

Another big venture is our housing redevelopment project located in Crewe, Virginia! You can read more about it here.

The Resilience Resource Center (RRC) is a creative placemaking initiative to revitalize downtown Crewe by transforming an underutilized building into a vibrant community hub. Blending free essential services with an entrepreneurial social-enterprise model, the RRC will deliver dignity-centered support, hands-on workforce training, and activating programming that strengthens local identity and foot traffic.

By reimagining a dormant space as an inclusive, welcoming center, the RRC extends Irockmyscars’ 24-hour donation table into a staffed storefront with clearly defined zones:

  • The Support Rack: Curated, monthly “premium picks” available for purchase. Every purchase directly fuels the Irockmyscars mission—funding free clothing and resources and helping cover essential operating costs to keep services accessible and the doors open.
  • Free Clothing Closet: A wide selection of gently used clothing for all ages and sizes at no cost, offered in a boutique-style environment that prioritizes choice, dignity, and care.
  • Donation and Resource Desk: A welcoming concierge that receives donations, shares information on free resources, and connects visitors to programs, benefits navigation, and support services.
  • Free Essentials Shelves: No-cost personal care, household, and seasonal items to ensure neighbors have reliable access to everyday basics.
  • Community Center Space: A flexible, multi-use area for workshops, classes, events, and informative sessions where guests can learn, connect, and recharge.

The RRC fosters inclusion, social cohesion, and community identity while generating opportunities for economic self-sufficiency. It will serve as a visible, lasting investment in people, place, and pride.

Impact in Action

Even before opening its doors, the Resilience Resource Center has been a lifeline for neighbors through:

  • Resource Pop-Ups: Seasonal clothing, coats, books, and essentials distributed right outside the RRC building while the space is under renovation—serving hundreds of residents in need.
  • 24-Hour Donation Table: A self-serve station where community members can pick up or drop off essential items at any time—no questions asked.

🏗 Renovation in Progress

The RRC building is currently being revitalized to create a permanent community hub. In the meantime, our Resource Pop-Ups and 24-hour donation table ensure that support doesn’t wait. We’re building more than a space—we’re building resilience.
